Table Design Tuesday: French Provincial

This table design is decorated with several vintage blue and white porcelain vases varying in shapes and sizes set on top of a farm table. All are filled with single types of flowers and each tea setting is adorned with scented stephanotis blooms. In addition, vintage white milk glass vases and cobalt blue medicine bottles are added to complete the look. Each place setting is accessorized with a custom stamped brown bag with each guest's name written in calligraphy style. The lavender field offers the perfect background and the lavender scent in the air makes this one of the most heavenly and peaceful places in San Diego.

Mangia Monday: Tangerine Sorbet Champagne Floats

Bring in the New Year with a little twist with this Tangerine Sorbet Champagne Floats recipe from CompleteRecipes.com.  Pour sparkling wine over some tangy sorbet made from scratch and enjoy during the countdown.  Start 2015 off right and make a tangerine toast to this being your year.  Happy New Year from San Diego Style Weddings!

Ingredients
2 1/2 cups fresh tangerine juice
1/2 cup sparkling wine
3/4 cup sugar
Additional sparkling wine, for serving

Directions
1. In a small saucepan, heat the sparkling wine and 1/2 cup of the tangerine juice.  Ass the sugar and stir until dissolved.  Place the mixture in a bowl and add the remaining tangerine juice.  Chill completely in the fridge.

2. Fresh the mixture in an ice cream machine according to the manufacturers instructions.  Sorbet will be soft.  Place the sorbet in the freezer for several hours to firm up.

3. To serve, scoop the sorbet into wine glasses or champagne flutes.  Pour champagne over the sorbet.  Serve immediately.

Fashion Friday: Button-Down Back

While detailed backs have been pretty popular this past year, you can never go wrong with a classic button-down back.  Small, satin buttons lining the spine of the gown ties a dress together in a pristine and tastefully old-fashioned beauty.  Sometimes, a few simple buttons is all you need.  A few gowns by Justin Alexander, Sincerity and Lillian West perfectly showcase how this trend can be done.

Personalized Touches: Charitable Favors

Details with a personalized touch make a wedding more your own. Guest favors are often an overlooked detail. Brides and grooms struggle to find a meaningful thank you gift for their guests without breaking the bank. Charitable favors, where the couple donates money or volunteer hours to a charity in lieu of providing a physical gift, can be the perfect solution.

To create a charitable favor, select an organization that means something to you or in memory of someone close to you. For example, you could make a monetary donation to a breast cancer organization in memory of the bride's grandmother who died from the disease. If you have an adopted pet at home, you could pledge to volunteer one hour for every wedding guest at your local pet adoption facility. The organization can be anything meaningful to you.

Once you have selected your organization and determined what the donation will be, print a favor card (this can also double as a place card) for each wedding guest explaining the charitable favor. For example, "In lieu of a favor, a donation has been made to the Helen Woodward Animal Center in memory of our beloved pet, Fluffy."

Wedding Wednesday: Massiel & Luke

October 13, 2013 |  Glorietta Bay Park & Coronado Community Center
Their Story: Luke was deployed to Afghanistan in October 2011, so the couple opted for a quick surprise ceremony before he left.  Upon his safe return, they had a larger celebration of their love and life together.  Luke's father sadly passed away before the wedding, so in his place both Massiel and Luke's mothers participated in the ceremony by performing a hand fastening.  Their one-year-old son, Bear served as the ring bearer.  Their wedding was truly a commemoration of love, family and commitment.

Wedding Wednesday: Trista & Brian

10/19/2013  |  Best Western Plus Island Palms
Their Story: Trista and Brian met at a festival hosted by Karl Strauss Brewery in May 2006 just before the death of her beloved father.  Trista had known for a while that she was in love with this man but it was how he stood by her side and his level of support that he provided to her and her family through her father's passing that solidified to her that this was the man that she wanted to spend her life with. In July Trista’s father met Brian for the first time.  It was a brief visit but he was able to see in him what she did and told his daughter…”I would be happy if you ended up with him."

On the day Brian proposed he took Trista to spot at which later he stated, "that was the closest thing to getting your father's approval."  Their engagement day was simply beautiful which is also the best descriptive for their marriage and life together.  The sun was shining and there was a feeling in the air that they profess was indescribable.  Everyone in attendance can truly attest to the love that's shared between them and while a single rose was placed on an empty chair for her father, it was evident he was there in spirit.

Their wedding day saw a union in which a man from the Boston area and woman from Pennsylvania by way of Calcutta in Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity orphanage joined as one. It was breathtaking.

Table Design Tuesday: Lavender Haze

Various shades of lavender and purple roses, white hydrangeas, tulips and radiant orchids were used to create this stunning table design. A large arrangement nestled on a glass footed vase is placed on the middle of the table as the focal point with several matching centerpieces in glass mirrored vases. An ombre of lavender scented candles and purple votives are places throughout to create a romantic ambiance. Silver shantung linen with ghost chairs adorned with clutches of roses and passion fruit blooms elevated the style. Each place setting is accessorized with a beautiful crafted menu card.
